For the past four decades, photography has been my way to interact with the world. As an introvert, the camera has been my tool to explore my surroundings and express my vision of the world and what I can create with it.
I received my first camera, a Kodak Ektralite 110 film cartridge camera, when I was ten years old. I photographed everything and anything I could. I would often delight in photographing the scenery around me everywhere - field trips, family outings, even walking around the neighborhood..
Three years later, I purchased my first SLR camera. I learned how to use different lenses to achieve different perspectives, compositions, and depth of fields in my images. Not thinking it possible, I shot even more rolls of film than before, and continued to take my camera with me everywhere.
Fast forward twenty years and digital photography became affordable. Now, instead of having to wait to finish a roll of film and get it developed, I could see the photos as I took them. This allowed me to experiment with different techniques and looks. Instead of waiting to take scenic photos while on vacation, I started exploring, just to take pictures. As I got new camera bodies, I learned I could have my old ones converted to shoot in infrared, allowing me to capture strange, yet beautiful new images.
I continue to experiment with new techniques. I have set a goal to use my camera at least once a week to explore and photograph something new, or revisit somewhere I have already been to get a better shot, or a new perspective of something I have photographed before. My passion and love of photography continues to grow over the years and it fills me with happiness and satisfaction to share my photographic view of the world with the world..
